Code of Ethics

The following Code of Conduct is announced for all members of the Black Belt Institute (BBI). Members of this organization are expected to conduct themselves in accordance with this code. Furthermore, application for and acceptance of membership in the BBI constitutes and/or implies consent to follow this code of conduct.

  1. No member shall expressly claim or imply the awarding of rank from the BBI which has not been properly and genuinely granted by the BBI Board of Directors (Board).
  2. No member, shall expressly claim or imply the awarding of official Black Belt certification from BBI which has not been properly and genuinely granted by the Board.
  3. No member of BBI will conduct themselves in a manner unbecoming to the ideals of the organization or in any way which would discredit the BBI.
  4. The Ideals of the BBI are founded on the tenets of Honesty, Respect, Integrity, and Courage. Honesty means knowing the difference between Right and Wrong and following the correct path; Respect is treating people as you would like to be treated as well as respecting protocols observed by the art; Integrity is following through with ones' committment to others; Courage is willingness admit one's limitations and to forgive others for their limitations.
  5. Any member of BBI who is found to act unethically may be required to meet with the Board..

The reputation, honor, and future of the BBI depend on the conduct of our members. It is expected that all members will become faithful supporters of the ideals and traditions of this organization, wherever they go and whatever they do.
